CBD Activation

CBD Activation

Vibrant Kempsey CBD laneway

Did you know there are currently 33 empty shops in the Kempsey CBD area?

Let’s put our minds together and turn this around.

Join us for a community conversation about getting the CBD activated focusing on the key questions:

  1. How can we fill our empty shops?
  2. How can we activate an entrepreneurial culture in our community?

Whether you are currently running a shop in Kempsey, have an idea for a retail business or have an active interest in your CBD we’d like to hear your input.

Current initiatives in focus:

  • Activating the former Country Target building for the conference and supporting the Country University Centre to expand
  • Peppercorn rent for pop-up shops
  • CBD map and marketing campaign
  • Opportunity Hub – coming soon…
  • Shop local cards
  • Monthly networking – next meeting 515 at the Learning the Macleay office, 7th August register here
  • Next Ready Macleay community conversation 22 August from 530pm incorporating the Macleay Valley Pitchfest register here

Current Initiatives

It’s not just talk – this is about community led action.

Those present at our meeting on 1 May agreed it’s time for change in the Kempsey CBD. At the June meeting it was agreed to proceed with a collaborative celebration of NAIDOC Week. A stellar exhibition was arranged in local shops by Connie from Learning the Macleay. Congratulations everyone on this collaborative effort.
