SIITR25 Let the adventure begin

Visiting a new SIITR community is always a lot of fun. While the first (often anonymous) visits are for general scoping there are a few things we are on the lookout for which include:

  • Fun and quirky venues that are ideally close to the CBD
  • Things that tell us a story about the community including
  • Public noticeboards
  • Public art
  • Parks and nature
  • Interesting infrastructure
  • Architecture and interesting buildings (particularly empty ones)
  • Community owned venues
  • Cafes, pubs and restaurants
  • Accommodation
  • The main street and local retail (we are also on the lookout for empty shops and the general vibe of the community)
  • Places to stop, sit and connect through the community and how they are used

We start building a story about the community through our own eyes, a story that we know will have a lot of blanks that are filled in as we start to meet the local community.

SIITR25 will include some side activities throughout the broader Clarence Valley and there’s a LOT to discover. If you can assist please get in touch or tag us #siitr25 #readycommunities in your socials.

Already we are thoroughly enjoying the public art – Grafton is an incredibly creative community and it’s really getting the creative juices flowing as we scope the venues, the activities, the ideas and the themes for this year’s event.

We will also launch our Ready Communities DISCOVER program soon in the Clarence which will also contribute to this mapping and storytelling. (more here)
