Lavinia Hutchison

Founder and Principal Regional Advisor at REGIONALL

Lavinia Hutchison moved to Australia from the UK in 2002, arriving as a newcomer to the regional communities she would go on to serve for more than two decades. That experience shaped her unwavering commitment to, and appreciation for, the people, connections and foundations that make communities thrive.

As Founder and Principal Regional Advisor at REGIONALL, Lavinia works with resource-dependent communities, industry, government and organisations to deliver legacy-focused outcomes through place-based engagement and community-informed strategies across New South Wales and Queensland.

With a career spanning newspapers, magazines, television and radio across two states and two countries, including newsroom roles across Newcastle, Muswellbrook and Mackay, Lavinia has developed a deep understanding of storytelling, community dynamics and stakeholder relationships. This experience led her to establish LIVMEDIA in 2017 and later launch REGIONALL, a strategic regional advisory practice focused on shaping positive social, economic and environmental outcomes. For Lavinia, “It’s all happening in the regions” is more than a statement; it is reflected in her work to not only share regional stories but help shape the outcomes that define their future.

Informed by IAP2 principles, regional practice frameworks and professional development through the Regional Australia Institute and La Trobe University, Lavinia works at the intersection of communication, engagement and regional development. She translates complexity into understanding, enables informed participation and delivers lasting social value.
