The Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA) is excited to announce a partnership with the organisers of Social Impact in the Regions (SIITR), a new conference designed specifically for regional changemakers and people supporting social impact in regional communities.
Kylie Flament, SECNA’s CEO, attended the inaugural SIITR Conference held in Coffs Harbour, NSW in 2023. She says:
“The conference was deeply engaging and regionally specific with content spread across three days enabling time for regional practitioners to connect, learn and apply new skills. As a regional Australian I am very aware that support needs are different in smaller communities, and I love that the conference is designed with this in mind”.
This year’s collaboration, dubbed the #SIITR24 Dunghutti Express, will bring 40 conference delegates from Sydney to Kempsey in 2024 via a NSW TrainLink regional service. The group will meet other conference delegates through a range of facilitated activities, they will also be joined by two Dunghutti Elders who will share stories about the Kempsey community and surrounds, and about the significance of the rail journey between Sydney and Kempsey.
The partnership not only marks SECNA’s significant support for regionally based social enterprise, it also provides a unique way to build the conference community and support the sustainability aspects of the event.
Social Impact in the Regions will take place between 4-6 September 2024 in Kempsey, NSW. The conference serves as a catalyst for growth and innovation within the social impact sector in regional areas. Participants will have the chance to engage with other impact practitioners, learn about successful regional initiatives, and explore opportunities for collaboration. This event will highlight the unique challenges and opportunities faced by regional communities, and inspire actionable solutions that drive positive change.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Social Impact in the Regions Conference to bring a large group of conference delegates from Sydney to Kempsey by train. This initiative underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability and social connection, while building a robust impact sector across the state.” – Kylie Flament, SECNA
“The Social Impact in the Regions Conference is a pivotal event for regional communities. Partnering with SECNA allows us to broaden our reach and amplify the impact of our work. We look forward to welcoming the Sydney cohort to Kempsey in 2024.” Kerry Grace, conference producer.
